LIULI MUSEUM.Song Yan
松菸 LIULI MUSEUM.Song Yan。
博物館所規劃的每一個展覽,背後都代表著一種深切的企望;
LIULI MUSEUM Song Yan
Exploring Life and Emotion Through Liuli Art
In 2011, Liuligongfang founders Loretta H. Yang and Chang Yi founded the LIULI MUSEUM Song Yan. The museum is nestled within the historical Songshan Tobacco Factory site in Taipei and represents the cumulation of Liuligongfang’s 30 year investment in art, craft, design, film, media, fashion and dining.
For Liuligongfang, the term liuli has a layered significance. For one, it is the liuli penned by Tang Dynasty Poet Bai Juyi: Like scattered clouds, the fragility of liuli. It is also the liuli from the scripture of the Medicine Buddha: May the moment come when I attain enlightenment, the body, even the soul, become as liuli, transparent inside and out, pure and flawless. Liuli represents more than material or creative medium. It is spirit, it is life itself.
Liuligongfang aspires to introduce the vibrant world of global glass art to the people of Taiwan and for the museum to act as a window to the outside world.
Each exhibition at the museum represents an expectation: here is where the concept of international glass art is shaped. Each person passing through these walls functions as a seed, disseminating their thoughts and impressions of the exhibition through conversation and actions. LIULI MUSEUM Song Yan is here to cultivate an aesthetic built upon a rich intergenerational liuli culture.
